Maples > Hogyoku

One of the very old Japanese cultivars, Hogyoku is often overlooked today because it is not a flashy tree except in the Autumn when it is a bright pumpkin orange. I love it for its sturdy habit , small stature, beautiful pale bark, and sun and wind tolerant medium-green leaves. A wonderful choice for hot areas in the South and to accompany Osakazuki anywhere.
