Fearing's Farm
Fearing’s Farm Nursery
Plant availability list as of March 1, 2008
Who we are and what we do:
We are a small nursery specializing in rare and exotic rhododendrons and azaleas, mostly species.
Most are grown from seed, which we get from the American Rhododendron Society seed exchange, from the Rhododendron Species Foundation, or from the Royal Horticultural Society seed list.
We try to get wild collected seed, identified by collector’s numbers. Failing that we take hand pollinated seed from selected sources. We do not knowingly use open pollinated seed.
Thus we are able to offer rare varieties never available in ordinary nurseries, possible new species, and plants not previously in cultivation.
As our own collection grows – now some 900 plants, 600 of which are species – we expect to offer more and more plants grown from cuttings from especially nice
individuals in our garden.
What we sell:
Currently we have more than 300 clones for sale, mostly in 1 or 2 gallon pots. We unfortunately cannot mail plants. We usually have only a few of each variety, 5 or less for 40% of the varieties.
Caveat:
Even with species there can be some variation among individuals grown from seed. We can guarantee our plants are named as we received the seeds, but since most have not yet bloomed, we may not know that they were identified correctly when collected.
The plant list:
Generally plants are listed by the (sometimes older) name under which we got them. The ‘source’ gives the ARS, RSF or RHS seed number and ‘comments’ give the collector, where seed was collected, or other information about the origin of the plant.
5376 Ross Road, Abbotsford, B.C., V4X 1Z2 Phone: 604 857 4136
From highway 1, 264th exit, go north across the freeway and right past McDonalds. Follow the road to a T junction at Ross Road and then go
south a half mile. Alternatively from the Mt. Lehman exit, go north to Downes, west 1 mile to Ross Road and north 1 3/4 mile.
