Rhododendrons and Primula in Stanley Park
20 Sep 2001
Because of the VRS Directory included with the September Indumentum, there is little space for other things. Fortunately, most VRS members already know our September speaker and fellow VRS member, Alleyne Cook, long with the Parks Board working in Stanley Park, creator of the Ted and Mary Grieg Rhododendron Garden in the Park, and American Rhododendron Society Gold Medal winner. Appropriately enough, Alleyne will speak on the Rhododendrons and Primula in Stanley Park, a subject about which he, along with VRS member Gerrard Picher, probably knows more than anybody else. Alleyne and Gerrard guided us through the Garden last May, and will this month expand on the fine plants in what is certainly one of the major horticultural treasures of British Columbia—one, incidentally, for which he is largely responsible.
